Vidya Balan, who won our heart right from Parineeta to Tumhari Sulu, is all set for her next – Mission Mangal. Mission Mangal is a multi starrer film based on India’s maiden space venture to Mars.

During a recent media meet, while promoting the space film, Vidya opened up about the movie, her role, her prep for the film and much more. Read some snippets of it here:

The actress plays a scientist in this film. Talking about her prep for the role the actress says:

“That scientists are not geeks, they are not nerds. We think they don’t smile, they don’t laugh, wear coats and formals, they will only be speaking scientific terms but they are normal people like us. When you think of an actor you only think about the glamorous part of their life you don’t think of their personal side of it. Here, with scientist, it is difficult to imagine what their work life will be like because it’s so far removed from my reality that I don’t really know what a scientist does so I think for me the revelation was that.”

She continues:

“They are not always like robots or serious all the time or all about equations and theory, they are finding their relevance in everyday life using it in their projects. I think that thing about the mission itself was quite fascinating. Now I don’t wanna go into details but the kind of obstacles they face seems like it’s not possible that’s why in the trailer there is ‘it’s impossible’ but they did not give up and the way they worked through the problem was amazing for me.”

When asked about her role, the actress shared the following:

“She is basically, Tara Shinde, is the project director on the Mars mission, she is like any other professional women in India who is handling home and work and is passionate about her work, it is her identity it gives her great joy and is fully committed to it but she also handles her home with as much dedication so that balancing act is what appealed to me because all around me I am seeing women who are constantly playing this game and they are told if anything goes wrong in the house it’s because of them so you are expected her to be a superwomen but fantastic thing about Tara Shinde is that she is not trying to be a super-women”

Starring Akshay Kumar, Vidya Balan, Taapsee Pannu, Sharman Joshi, Sonakshi Sinha, Nithiya Menon, Kirti Kulhari and other, the film is directed by Jaganshakti. It is presented by Fox Star Studios, produced by Cape of Good Films, Hope Productions and Fox Star Studios. Mission Mangal releases on August 15.
