Hollywood has always enthralled us with its science fictions. Movies like Inception, Interstellar, Star Wars, to name a few, have successfully won the audience and left us sci-fi-struck. What we never came across was a space love story, and guess what, Hollywood has now done it all! Earth wasn’t enough to fall in love, now the movie makers want us to feel this emotional connect in the space as well! ‘Passengers’ trailer was too enigmatic and everyone had high hopes, which apparently failed after the release.

A spaceship passenger Jim (Chris Pratt) wakes up 90 years early from his 120-year long journey. Isn’t that too soon? It really sounds great for all the bed-lovers, though. 😉 As he’s already awake, he explores the ship, and these visuals will kill you with its luxurious life in space. After living alone on a secluded spaceship, and trying all the possible ways to get back in the hibernation mode, Jim picks Aurora (Jennifer Lawrence) and wakes her up from the journey to another planet. Isn’t that too selfish? The story takes a back seat when Aurora falls for him, and she later discovers that Jim woke her up intentionally, which leaves him feeling guilty. But unfortunately, it doesn’t come as a surprise.

The duo is shown getting out of their dreamy romance when a Captain too wakes up and finds out that ship is about to blow in the space. Again, predictable! The couple keeps aside their teenage love and fights back to save the other passengers.

‘Passengers’ is nothing but a mushy romantic movie, with a dash of sci-fi; trying hard to impress with these brilliant performers! Jennifer and Chris fail to create the magic with their chemistry and the force-fit plot will just bore you to the core.

We give this movie 1.5 buzzing bees.
