For weeks now, the name of Shah Rukh Khan and Anushka Sharma’s next with Imtiaz Ali has been creating quite the stir online. From The Ring to Rehnuma to Raula, many titles were “confirmed” by various media houses, but SRK has finally put an end to all rumors by announcing the name – Jab Harry Met Sejal.
Let this sink in. Let the unoriginality of the title sink in.
Clearly, not everyone is impressed. We came to terms with Bollywood being ‘inspired’ by Hollywood movies (Read: frame to frame plagiarism) but are we really not going to put our heads into thinking of better titles? The name is clearly ‘inspired’ by the iconic romantic movie ‘When Harry Met Sally’. The ONLY thing original about the title is, that it also takes inspiration from Imtiaz Ali’s critically acclaimed movie, Jab We Met. Even that is kind of NOT cool. If the response on Twitter is anything to go by, many are disappointed with the title and the uncanny resemblance between the posters.
Like any Bollywood fan, we are surely baffled and disheartened with this unoriginal clusterfuck.
On a side note – It’s the perfect weather to grab a bottle of wine and cry about your single life while watching Harry and Sally fall in love by the way.
