After much anticipation, marketing and promotions, Raees has finally arrived in the theatres. We’ve seen Shah Rukh Khan dancing, kicking, punching, doing unbelievable stunts, saying masaledaar dialogues yaar. What is new this? It seems that the makers knew they had a weak product on their hand, which is why all the marketing jazz huh? As much as we love SRK, the film is struggling to impress the audience.
King Khan plays the role of a golden-hearted gangster in Raees and doing bad things for all the good reasons. The movie revolves around him doing all these illegal things and his cat-mouse chase with Nawazuddin Siddiqui.
We’ll give Raees this much – it has whistle worthy dialogues, but the plot gets lost in the chaos of making Raees likeable and badass. What you will see is the same old things presented in a new way. The plot is weak, the storyline is chaotic and has various loopholes! The movie wasn’t worth the much talked about (and copied) train journey and definitely not worth the lives that were affected.
Nawazuddin Siddiqui steals the show and it is HIS performance that outshines everyone else. Shah Rukh Khan is amazing in some scenes but they are not enough to make this movie a winner. Also, Raees is a mixture of all his previous characters and it constantly feels like we have seen SRK do all this before while wearing different clothes.
Mahira Khan makes a very thanda Bollywood debut and to be honest, is VERY boring in the movie.
Overall – Don’t expect a sensational plot. Give it one watch for the gorgeouness that is Shah Rukh Khan.
We give Raees 2.5 buzzing bees.
