The makers of Shree Narayan Singh’s next, Batti Gul Meter Chalu starring Shahid Kapoor, Shraddha Kapoor, Yami Gautam and Divyenndu Sharma released the trailer of the movie today.

Present at the trailer launch was the whole cast and crew except Yami Gautam.

At the launch when a journalist asked Shahid that why wasn’t he seen in any promotional activities of Ishaan’s Dhadak, he replied,

“I wasn’t called only. Today morning only I had messaged him asking him about the success party of Dhadak that happened last night. So he told me ‘no bro I was not sure whether I wanted to call anybody.’ ( laughs)
When the trailer was launched, I was shooting in Tehri and I remember I was driving and the network wasn’t good there and I was trying to stream the trailer and see it and I couldn’t speak to him but I will only say this that Ishaan is a very nice actor. He doesn’t need my help or support. ”

Later when he was asked if it’s a conscious effort to select Films like Haider and Udta Punjab and now Batti Gul Meter Chalu which deal with a social issue?
To which he replied,

“This is an extremely mainstream film. You all have watched the trailer. I think the issues don’t make a film non-mainstream, I think the take on the issues make a film mainstream.

So if the title of the film was not Batti Gul Meter Chalu but something serious like Andhere ka something, so maybe this film’s tonality and reach would be different. I always believe that if you want to say something, you should reach it out to maximum people. Shree Sir has done a great job. Even in Toilet: Ek Prem Katha, he picked up an issue about toilet that could reach to many people. So if you see this title, Batti Gul Meter Chalu, it is a very quirky title and if you watch the trailer it is all full of humour and fun and in between where ever he could give a message, he has done that.”
