Yes, even with her brisk action sequence, Shabana’s is not a story you want to keep watching. It looks like Shabana shined in Baby just because the role was a cameo. The spin-off revolves around a female intelligence officer, played by Taapsee, who has been assigned the task of assassinating an arms dealer and smuggler (Prithviraj).

The first half simply revolves around the protagonist and her love interest, Jai (Taher Mithaiwala). However, their yet-to-bloom love story is cut short when the duo gets pursued by eve-teasers. From then on starts the journey of Shabana and her war for justice.

While it sounds intriguing when we pen it down, the screenplay, the dialogues and the editing don’t seem to translate that well on screen. The movie lags towards the end and is quite predictable. If you’re expecting a nail biting ending, this is not it.

Director Shivam Nair’s film has multiple loopholes. Even ace actors Akshay Kumar and Anupam Kher’s characters can’t seem to save this sinking ship. While it’s amazing that Naam Shabana tries to enter the list of female-centric movies that kick some serious butt, the storyline is not gripping enough.

For a film that lacks thriller, we give it 2 buzzing bees.
