Birthday Special: 5 Times Hariharan The Music Maestro Stole Our Hearts With His Music

One of the Music geniuses that has been gifted to us, Hariharan celebrates his 63rd birthday today. The versatile legend has gifted amazing hit songs to the Indian film industry.

The legendary playback singer, a two-time National Award winner and a recipient of Padma Shri has lent his voice for Tamil, Hindi, Malayalam, Kannada, Marathi, Bhojpuri and Telugu films. He is an established ghazal singer and one of the pioneers of Indian fusion music.

He was initially introduced by debutant music director AR Rahman in Tamil films with the patriotic song, “Thamizha Thamizha” in Maniratnam’s “Roja.”

On his birthday here’s a list of Hariharan’s top songs:
1. Tu Hi Re- Bombay:
This “Bombay” film song “Tu Hi Re” by Hariharan is one of the best compositions he had with AR Rahman.

2. Chappa Chappa Charkha Chale- Maachis:

‘Chappa Chappa Charkha Chale’ from the film, “Maachis”, was sung by Hariharan and Suresh Wadkar and was one of the most awesome songs of its time.

3. Nahi Samne Ye Alag Baat Hai- Taal:
Yet another song composed by AR Rahman, “Nahi Samne”, in “Taal” and was sung by Hariharan and Sukhwinder Singh. The film starred Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Akshay Khanna, Anil Kapoor in lead roles.

4. Yaadein- Yaadein:
‘Yaadein’ the title song from Hrithik Roshan-Kareena Kapoor Khan starrer “Yaadein” was sung by Hariharan, Sunishi Chauhan and Mahalaxmi Iyer and is one of his most beautiful songs till date and a favourite of ours.

5. Ek Duje Ke Vaaste- Dil Toh Paagal Hai:
For this romantic ballad, Hariharan had joined hands with the great Lata Mangeshkar and the outcome what we got of this combination was sheer brilliance and a song to remember over the years.
