Filmmaker Meghna Gulzar of the critically acclaimed ‘Talvar’ fame, has conceptualized her next project around a woman-oriented subject that is set in the 70s & we hear that it may star Alia Bhatt in the lead.
The film will reportedly have Alia playing the role of a Kashmiri girl who is married to an army officer. What makes her more than an ordinary army-wife is that, she is also a spy. She will be seen juggling between her responsibilities as a daughter & a wife & her duties towards her nation. The movie itself is based on an espionage thriller novel by Harinder S. Sikka named, ‘Calling Sehmat’.
The film, however, will not feature any major action sequences as it is based on conditions that played catalyst leading to the Indo-Pak war in 1971 but not the actual war.
No details have been made public about the male protagonist to be paired with Alia Bhatt in the film. The film will be produced by Junglee Pictures & the famous, Gulzar Sahab who happens to be Meghna’s father will be penning down lyrics for the film.
Alia Bhatt will next be seen in Badrinath Ki Dulhania and the superhero flick, Dragon.
