Aamir Khan’s much-awaited movie met the expectations of its audience. It is not only winning hearts but also receiving critical acclaim for its cinematography and detailed characterization. Though Dangal isn’t a jaw-dropping film, but it does justice to its trailer of being a classic sports movie. Aamir’s eye for detail is amazing and Dangal stands as another brilliant example!

Dangal is an emotional drama of a stubborn father who wants his daughters to achieve his lifelong dream. As this movie depicts a 1980s scenario, it stands against patriarchal society with a dose of patriotism among the characters. Dangal showcases the never-say-die spirit of two girls, who are trained by their father to earn dignity in the society.

After Mahavir’s wife fails to deliver a boy, he gives up on his wrestling career and moves on with a normal life. When the girls break into a fight against boys, Mahavir sees a ray of hope & begins training them for the sport. The child actors, Suhani and Zaira have done a great job and the latter, Sanya and Fatima are more cued to the art of wrestling. Their detailing towards the body language is noteworthy & worth applauding for. The first half of the movie focuses on the training of the little girls, whereas the second half is dedicated to their fights as wrestling champions.

You’ll be surely impressed by Sakshi Tanwar’s acting, as she adds an emotional touch to the entire film. The story is Mahavir’s, but the entire spotlight is on girls and their struggle to fulfill their dad’s dreams. Aamir is not in his six-pack avatar this time, but flaunting his pot-belly proudly with a Haryanvi accent & portrays the character of a failed wrestler with big dreams very well.

We give Dangal 3.5 buzzing bees. It’s a must watch this Christmas.
